praises

well, life has changed quite a bit since the last time i wrote on xanga.  i figured it was about time to update, even if no one really reads this anymore.  first, i want to start this entry with a simple statement that i've been finding true over and over again this past year: the LORD is GOOD.  this year has been full of challenges and heartaches, but it has also been filled with JOY.  i can only praise God for the way that He has filled me up and given me just enough strength to make it through.

i graduated from the MAE in may, then proceeded to look for a teaching position.  well, actually i started applying and going in for interview in march, but nothing seemed to fit.  i started to get a little worried in june when i still didn't have a job, but i continued to trust that the Lord had a perfect plan.  by the end of July, that trust was pretty shaky.  i finally decided that if i didn't get a teaching position, maybe God was trying to humble me by letting me have a "lower" job like working at kohl's or starbucks for the year.  while i was working at a church camp for 5th and 6th graders, i received a call for an interview at a small Christian school in north county.  i went to the interview, fully expecting to not be interested in the position, but i left the school really desiring to work there.  after prayer and thought, i realized that it was the place for me!  praise the Lord for leading me to exactly the place i need to be this year!

i got really sick at the beginning of the year with mono, and i have been battling this illness for a couple of months.  while it's been difficult to teach full-time and try to be involved in ministry stuff at the same time, the Lord has blessed me with understanding employers, encouraging co-workers, and an incredible boyfriend who has been there for me so much!  it's been so discouraging to go from mono to having hives all over my face to having a root canal (without dental insurance) recently, but at the same time, i've seen the Lord healing me and providing for me in His time, not mine.  slowly, but surely, i've been able to get back into the swing of things and live a "normal" life again.

also, it's been cool to date eric.  i'm not exactly sure when we started dating, but it happened at some point in the spring.  he's been such an encouragement to me, and it's been neat to see the Lord teaching me and breaking me through that relationship.  i'm so thankful that the Lord put him into my life at this time.

so, life overall is really good.  i'm thankul to have so many people in my life, and i'm excited to have the opportunity to get to know those people even better as i put more effort into those relationships.  most of all, i'm excited to see the Lord drawing me to Himself this year as i yearn to know Him more.  so long for now.

the jimmy is in a dire state...

my car broke down.  i tried to fix it.  i learned where the radiator is.  i added antifreeze.  unfortunately, my dad and the mechanic couldn't fix it...so i will be driving the DURANGO.  yes, my dad's green beast will be mine for the next few days.  if you see a green durango with the durango letters in the windshield and dodge ram head things over the tail lights, it's probably me.  sweet.

Well, i haven't updated in a long time, so i figured today was as good as any day.  i am taking grad classes at truman for the MAE (masters of arts in education).  i like it so far, but it seems like i have been in school for a long time.  i've been really lame and i do homework a lot.  i should be more social, but it's hard because i really like doing my own thing sometimes, you know?  i'm trying to finish harry potter and the order of the phoenix before i see the movie on friday, but i don't think it will happen.

right now i am trying to create a "sample test" for one of my education classes.  it's for a second grade classroom, since that is what i want to teach.  but i'm having a hard time making one because in second grade, students aren't ready for some long test...so i probably won't ever use this.  oh well...the other day i got to make a puppet for one class.  ah, the life of an elementary education major.

is it sad that i'm already wishing summer away?  i'm ready for august- lauren's wedding, people returning to this forsaken town...possibly going to nashville again?!?  but i'm not ready for another semester of fun...no siree, i could wait on that one!

xanga no more...

so i'm thinking about getting rid of my xanga account.  it's been 4 long years.  i barely ever check this anymore.  does anyone even read this?  doubtful.  let's take a vote.  should i close it down or not?

forever young

today hillary, sara, ashley and i went to columbia for chipotle, shopping and a hip-hop radio station.  on this short journey, we decided to visit the columbia mall.  after several hours perusing the aisles of target and barnes and noble, we were accosted by a police man wearing a large hat.  he approached us and asked if we knew about the new "parental guidance" rule.  we must have given him blank stares because he then proceeded to ask how old we are.  when i responded that i am 22 years old, he looked slightly embarrassed and apologized, saying that we looked younger in the distance.  but yes, it is true...apparently we all look younger than a 17 year old.
